I hope you're enjoying your book.
If you have purchased a copy of one of these books, you may print that book for your personal use only, all additional printed copies will be a violation of permission and each violation will be prosecuted.
Kenneth E. Hockenberry gives to you, the purchaser of one of his these books, permission to print one copy for your personal use only.
The instructions below will help you to print your book on both sides of a sheet of paper.
Supplies:
Quality printing is dependant upon a good printer. If you don't have a good printer, and don't want to invest in one at this time, just to print one book, you might consider using a friend’s printer, or having someone like Kinko’s print the book for you.
![]() I like to use premium white, 24-pound paper, with a brightness of at least 98.
You can cut your costs considerably by using a cheaper paper, but I don't recommend it.
It’s been my experience that cheaper paper has a tendency to jam.
![]() Make sure you have enough ink to complete the printing. If you are printing the book in color, be sure all the color levels are full. To be safe, you might want to purchase a new color ink cartridge just for this project.
![]() ![]() You will need a three hole punch. You can buy an inexpensive one, or one that will last a lifetime. I decided after breaking two or three cheaper ones, I would buy a sturdier three hole punch that would last. Never load the hole punch to capacity, this is why they break.
![]() You will also need a binder. Duo-Tang clear cover binders are perfect. They are at times hard to find, but I won't settle on anything less. I've driven across town to another office supply just to purchase them.
![]() Duo-Tang clear front report covers with fasteners provide full view of your title page.
Three 1/2" capacity tang fasteners hold 11 x 8-1/2 sheets.
If you buy something different make sure it will hold a half inch of paper.
Understanding Your Printer:
Understanding your printer’s options is paramount. The two determining factors to successfully printing your book are, knowing your printer’s capabilities, and the other is, knowing your printer’s restrictions.
Knowing what your printer can, or cannot do determines which course you'll take.
Do you know how much paper your printer will hold ?
Depending upon which one of Bighousedaddy’s books you are printing, you'll need approximately 30 to 100 sheets of paper. This is based on double sided printing.
Will your printer cancel the print job if it runs out of paper?
Some printers will cancel the print job if the paper runs out, others will not.
Now running out of paper isn't difficult to correct, it just makes it difficult to restart the job in the middle of the project. I would caution you not to let the paper run out.
If your printer holds only a small amount of paper, to insure the print job isn't canceled you'll need to feed paper to the back of the paper feed tray while the printer is operating.
How to Print your Book

Open the PDF version of your book.
Make sure your printer is completely filled with paper.

Checking this box will insure the book will print last page first.
Select "ALL" if it isn't already selected.
Next, select print "EVEN PAGES ONLY" in the drop down window.
Now click the "OK" button.
You should now have a print confirmation screen appear like the one below.
![]() What is happening now is the book is going to the printer spool.
Remember to keep the paper tray full.
Printing the odd pages.
After all the even pages are printed it’s time to print all the odd pages onto the backs of all the even pages.
Gather all the even pages and straighten them up, by knocking them on your desk.
Now pay attention here…
Place all the even pages back into the paper feed tray, backwards and upside down.
Most printers print on the side of the paper that you can see while the paper is in the tray.
So, you will want to place the paper back in the paper feed tray backside out.
Also, all printers print from the top of the page to the bottom of the page, so not only do you want to turn the paper over you'll want to turn the paper upside down.
So turn the paper over so the backside of the already printed pages is turned so you can see the backs.
Additionally, turn the pages upside down so that the top of the page in down
Now, place the pages into the paper feed tray backwards and upside down.
Next, click on the print icon again.
![]() The print screen will open again.
Be sure to check the "REVERSE PAGES" box.
Select "ALL" if it isn't already selected.
Next, select print "ODD PAGES ONLY" in the drop down window.
Now click the "OK" button.
![]() Again you'll get a print confirmation screen.
![]() After your book is done printing, straighten up all the pages.
Now you're ready to punch holes in the pages and place them in your binder.
Open your binder and lift up the tangs until they are standing straight.
Now don't punch too many pages all at one time.
Depending on which hole punch you purchased, you'll be able to punch between 7 and 30 sheets of paper at a time.
After you're finished punching the holes, place all the pages in your binder, and fold over the tangs to hold them in place.
Congratulations! You just printed and bound your book.
Best regards, and
